Professor, orthopedic surgery for pets at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Liège
Marc Henri Balligand, graduated as a veterinary doctor from the University of Liège in 1980, he is a specialist in pet surgery, & professor of orthopedic surgery for pets at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Liège and Head of the Pet Surgery Department since 1991. He holds a certificate in pet orthopedics from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgery in the United Kingdom (Cert SAO, 1984) and a doctoral thesis in biomechanics of the locomotor system in dogs (ULg 1986). He was President of the European College of Veterinary Surgery (ECVS, 2000) and currently chairs the European Society of Orthopaedics and Veterinary Traumatology (ESVOT). Visiting professor at the AO Forschung Institute in Davos, Switzerland, in 2017 and 2018, he is an instructor of the AO in veterinary medicine (AOVET).
His current research focuses on joint and bone biomechanics in dogs/cats with osteoarticular diseases.
